Surrenders reported in Bukidnon and Cotabato, Philippines

In Bukidnon, three alleged members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) surrendered to government authorities in San Fernando on October 22. The individuals, identified by the aliases “Maghong,” “Romnick,” and “Jocip,” are reportedly members of Guerrilla Front Malayag under the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee. During the surrender at the 1003rd Maneuver Company headquarters, the group turned over several items, including a .38-caliber revolver, a hand grenade, an M-76 rifle grenade, and 40mm grenade ammunition.

In a separate incident in Kabacan, Cotabato, Corporal Virgilio Magbiray Jr. of the Army’s 90th Infantry Battalion surrendered to the 6th Infantry Division on October 24. Magbiray is the primary suspect in the October 21 shooting deaths of Barangay Lower Paatan officials Bayan Patacpan Maganaka and Ibrahim Patacpan Maganaka. The incident allegedly occurred during an altercation at a community gathering. Magbiray turned over the 9mm pistol used in the shooting, and the 6th Infantry Division has ordered his turnover to local police for legal proceedings.
