Vernon police seek public help after two serious assaults in 24 hours

Police in Vernon, British Columbia, are appealing for information after two separate assaults with weapons occurred 24 hours apart. The first incident, on the night of August 5, involved a 43‑year‑old man who was bear‑sprayed and suffered a non‑life‑threatening injury from an edged weapon on 34th Street. The second incident, on the early morning of August 6, involved a 40‑year‑old man who was similarly bear‑sprayed and injured on 27th Avenue. Both victims were taken to hospital and did not cooperate with investigators. No suspects have been identified, and officers have canvassed the area for witnesses and video footage. “Our officers canvassed for potential witnesses or video surveillance of the assaults,” said Cpl. Tania Finn of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact the RCMP.
