Surrey begins demolition for 10,000-seat City Centre Arena
Demolition has commenced at the site of the future 10,000-seat City Centre Arena in Surrey, British Columbia. The project, which will serve as the new home for the Vancouver Giants, is a central component of the city’s emerging sports and entertainment district.
Marking the start of the first phase of construction, crews have begun dismantling the former Safeway building on King George Boulevard. The $360 million development is expected to include a luxury hotel, conference facilities, and residential spaces. The project is projected to generate $2.4 billion in economic benefits and over 2,700 jobs across Surrey and British Columbia by the time it is completed in 2030.
