Surrey couple celebrates 80th wedding anniversary

Surrey residents Harbans Singh Malhi, 98, and Basant Kaur Malhi, 97, are celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary. The couple was married in Punjab, India, in the summer of 1946.

After immigrating to Port Alberni in the early 1960s with their five children, the couple spent much of their lives working as blueberry farmers. Now retired, they remain largely independent and continue to maintain a garden. Their family includes five children, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
