Surrey police and firefighters to face off in charity hockey game

The inaugural Surrey Showdown, a charity hockey game featuring police officers and firefighters, is scheduled for October 10 at the South Surrey Arena. The event aims to raise funds for charities associated with Surrey Fire and Surrey Police to support local programs, community initiatives, and families in need.

Organizer and firefighter Mike Essel noted that the game is expected to be competitive, featuring players including former NHL player and firefighter Denis Pederson, as well as junior and college-level athletes. The event will include a beer garden, 50/50 draws, and a Battle of the Bands featuring the Surrey Police and Fire bands during the second intermission.
