Surrey Police Board and Union reach four-year collective agreement

The Surrey Police Board (SPB) and the Surrey Police Union (SPU) have reached a new four-year collective agreement, effective from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2028.

The settlement includes general wage increases for 2025 and 2026, followed by increases of 4.25% in 2027 and 4.0% in 2028. The total increase for the Surrey Police is approximately $14.283 million, representing 13.0% of baseline wages. This adjustment aims to align Surrey's compensation with the Vancouver Police wage and benefit improvements negotiated in late 2025.

According to SPU President Ryan Buhrig, the agreement provides stability and addresses morale and workload concerns during a period of transition for the Surrey Police Service (SPS). The agreement also covers the assumption of policing responsibilities in Guildford and Fleetwood, as well as the transition to a new Chief Constable.
