Surrey tree sale for residents begins August 18
The city of Surrey is launching a new round of its online tree sale program on Tuesday, August 18, at 9 a.m. Residents can purchase fruit and ornamental trees, such as apple, cherry, plum, dogwood, maple, and magnolia, for $20 each.
Approximately 1,000 trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are limited to two trees per sale and must use a credit card with a Surrey billing name and address. Trees, which vary between five to 12 feet tall in three- or five-gallon pots, can be picked up at the Surrey Operations Centre on September 18.
Urban forestry manager Rob Landucci noted that since more than half of Surrey’s tree canopy is located on private property, homeowner participation is vital for growing and protecting the urban forest. Since the program's inception, more than 25,000 trees have been purchased. A subsequent sale is scheduled to open on September 29.
