Surujrattan Rambachan advocates for cancer testing after stage four diagnosis
Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan, a former government minister and recipient of the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, has announced a diagnosis of stage four prostate cancer. Rambachan stated that he neglected his health over the past few years, leading to the illness, which has now spread to his bones.
Rather than seeking sympathy, Rambachan is using his diagnosis to advocate for early prostate cancer testing. He has been visiting temples and various community locations to share his story and urge men to undergo regular screenings. He warned that once the cancer spreads beyond the prostate, the path to recovery becomes uncertain and difficult.
In addition to his political career, which included serving as the mayor of Chaguanas and ambassador to Brazil, Rambachan noted his history of charitable work, including previous record-breaking singing marathons to raise funds for various causes.
