Surveillance cameras assist in recovering stolen vehicles in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande
Automated license plate recognition (OCR) video monitoring systems helped police recover three stolen vehicles in the Brazilian cities of Cuiabá and Várzea Grande.
In one incident on Thursday (23), a Honda Biz motorcycle was identified on Avenida Carmindo de Campos in Cuiabá. Military Police from the 1st Battalion intercepted the driver and confirmed the vehicle's stolen status, recovering it less than two months after the initial report.
A second recovery occurred on Wednesday (22) in Várzea Grande, where a Volkswagen Gol G7 was flagged by the system on Avenida da FEB. Officers from the 4th Battalion conducted the stop and confirmed the theft report.
A third incident involved a white Fiat Uno identified on Avenida Beira Rio in Cuiabá. Surveillance footage showed a man entering the vehicle and driving toward the São Mateus neighborhood. Upon seeing police approaching, the suspect fled through the back of a commercial establishment, leaving the car keys on a counter. The recovered vehicles and suspects were taken to the Central de Flagrantes for legal processing.
