Survey reveals over half of German employees gossip at work
A nationwide survey conducted by the ifak market research institute on behalf of Antenne Bayern indicates that 53 percent of employees gossip about colleagues or supervisors at least once a month.
Approximately 19 percent of respondents report gossiping at least once a day, with 11 percent doing so once daily and 8 percent doing so multiple times per day. Conversely, 44 percent of employees stated they do not gossip at work at all.
The study highlights regional and generational differences. In Bavaria, only 33 percent of respondents reported never gossiping. Age also appears to be a factor: only 30 percent of employees aged 14 to 29 say they never gossip, compared to 51 percent of those over the age of 50.
