Survivor contestant Stavros Floro stable after severe Dominican Republic accident

Greek reality‑TV contestant Stavros Floro, 22, was seriously injured on 11 May while filming the Greek edition of Survivor in the Dominican Republic. While spearfishing with teammate Mano Malliaros, a tourist speedboat struck the pair, hitting Floro’s left leg and right ankle. He suffered a partial amputation of the left leg below the knee and a serious ankle injury, lost a large amount of blood and required emergency transport to a nearby hospital after about 40 minutes in the water.

Floro underwent extensive surgery, regained full sensation in the injured leg and was moved to an intensive‑care unit. The production company Acun Media confirmed he is now out of danger and in a stable condition. Medical staff are evaluating the possibility of air‑transporting him to a specialised centre in the United States once his condition permits. His family has traveled from Greece to Santo (Saona) Island to be by his side, and the show’s host Acun Ilıcalı is also present on the island. Teammate Malliaros, who helped rescue Floro, has reportedly suffered psychological shock and is receiving support.

The incident has prompted an investigation by local authorities and has sparked a wave of public support and messages of solidarity from former Survivor participants and fans.
