Suryakumar Yadav addresses removal from India T20I captaincy

Suryakumar Yadav has addressed his removal from the Indian T20I captaincy and his subsequent exclusion from the squad for the tour of Ireland and England. Following India’s 2026 T20 World Cup victory, the 35-year-old expressed shock at the decision to axe him, noting that he had expected to lead the team through the Los Angeles Olympics and the 2028 T20 World Cup.

Yadav highlighted that the team had not lost a series under his leadership and questioned the necessity of a change while performance levels were high. Despite his surprise, he stated he respects the selectors' thought process.

Currently dropped from the national T20I setup due to concerns regarding batting consistency and a difficult IPL campaign, Yadav is focused on working hard to earn a comeback. He remains a key player for the Mumbai Indians and is aiming to regain his position in the Indian squad through strong performances.
