Suryakumar Yadav Supports New India T20I Captain Shreyas Iyer and Praises Teen Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

India's cricket board replaced Suryakumar Yadav as the men's T20I captain, appointing Shreyas Iyer for upcoming tours of Ireland, England and the Asian Games. Hours after the decision, Yadav posted on social media wishing the team success and congratulating 15‑year‑old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on his first India call‑up, describing the youngster's achievement as "earned it and how". Yadav highlighted the pride of having three consecutive Mumbai‑born captains and expressed confidence in Iyer's leadership. The change followed Yadav's modest performance in the recent T20 World Cup and a disappointing IPL 2026 season, where he scored 270 runs in 13 innings for the Mumbai Indians. Sooryavanshi, a Rajasthan Royals opener, impressed with 776 runs, a century and five fifties, earning the tournament's MVP award.
