Suryakumar Yadav left out of Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad

Suryakumar Yadav has been excluded from Mumbai’s 16-member squad for their opening Ranji Trophy match against Chandigarh, despite the former India T20I captain making himself available for selection.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials and chief selector Rajesh Pawar cited Yadav’s lack of recent red-ball cricket as the primary reason, noting he has not played a first-class match in approximately 18 months. Additionally, reports indicate Yadav missed several pre-season training camps, and there were delays in his communication with the association regarding his availability.

To regain his position, selectors suggested Yadav participate in state-level club competitions such as the Police Shield or Purushottam Shield. Meanwhile, Mumbai has appointed Siddhesh Lad as captain for the season, with 19-year-old Ayush Mhatre named as vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been included in the squad for the opening fixture at Wankhede Stadium.
