Suryapet police constable dismissed over double murder

Police constable Mohammad Sharif has been dismissed from service following his involvement in the double murder of a married couple in the Mothey mandal of Suryapet district. According to Suryapet District SP K Narasimha, the dismissal follows departmental proceedings regarding the killings of Halavath Nagulu and Halavath Buba.

The motive for the crime allegedly stemmed from a financial dispute involving a loan of Rs. 3 lakh. Police stated that when Sharif sought repayment, the couple threatened to file a complaint against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. In response, Sharif allegedly conspired with an accomplice, Surender, to kill the couple.

Investigators used CCTV footage to track the movements of the suspects. Surender was arrested and implicated Sharif in the murders. The victims were reportedly attacked and buried in a pit in an agricultural field near Penpahad. Authorities have invoked provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and are working to transfer the case to a fast-track court for a speedy trial.
