SUS National Force establishes regional base in Porto Velho

A new regional base for the SUS National Force (FN-SUS) has been established in Porto Velho, Rondônia, to strengthen public health emergency responses in Western Amazonia. Operating from the Fiocruz-Rondônia Climate and Health Center, the unit is designed to support Rondônia, Acre, and other remote areas.

The base aims to improve the identification of risks and the mobilization of professionals and supplies during extreme climate events, such as droughts and floods. The team includes specialists in healthcare assistance, community engagement, logistics, administration, and management. This strategic location facilitates movement via roads, air, and the Madeira River to reach isolated communities.

According to FN-SUS Director Rodrigo Stabeli, the unit will function as a regional intelligence and coordination center, working alongside state and municipal health secretariats to provide technical and operational support when local networks require reinforcement.
