Susan Cormier’s debut memoir becomes a BC bestseller

Langley author Susan Cormier has achieved sustained success with her debut memoir, ‘Dead Bees Still Sting: Tales of Life at the Edge of Nature’. Since its release this spring, the book has remained on the BC Bestseller List every week.

The memoir explores life on a semi-agricultural acreage in the Fernridge neighbourhood of South Langley. Cormier, a beekeeper-poet, chronicles the interface between urban woodlands and rural life, documenting the transition of agricultural land into higher-density housing.

The collection includes stories about various animals, such as coyotes, deer, and honeybees, alongside reflections on the rhythms of agrarian existence. The book also serves as an educational resource regarding the complexities of beekeeping and hive management.
