Susan Kushaba faces charges over alleged insults against Kampala ministers
Susan Kushaba, a former Owino Market leader and parliamentary candidate, has been charged with sending false distress signals following allegations made against senior government officials on TikTok. Kushaba pleaded not guilty to three counts before Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Ritah Kidasa Neumbe.
The prosecution alleges that Kushaba used a TikTok account known as ‘The Investigator’ to accuse Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda of fraud and land grabbing. Additionally, she reportedly accused State Minister Kabuye Kyofatogabye of embezzlement and Muzamiru Katumba Mirundi of illegally possessing land belonging to Kamwokya KCCA Primary School. These accusations have not been established by a court.
During a recent bail hearing, Kushaba’s legal team accused state prosecutors of deliberately delaying the process to prolong her detention. While the defense argued that all necessary documents had already been uploaded to the Electronic Court Case Management Information System, prosecutors Allan Mucunguzi and Grace Amy requested more time to verify documents and prepare affidavits to challenge the application.
