Susana de Sousa Dias named guest of honor at FIDOCS 30

Portuguese filmmaker Susana de Sousa Dias has been named the guest of honor for the 30th anniversary of the Santiago International Documentary Festival (FIDOCS). In collaboration with the Universidad Diego Portales, the festival will feature a focus on four of her films: ‘Natureza Morta’ (2005), ‘48’ (2009), ‘Luz Obscura’ (2017), and ‘Fordlândia Panacea’ (2025).

FIDOCS artistic director Martín Castillo noted that Dias's work, which interrogates power and memory, shares a cinematic dialogue with FIDOCS founder Patricio Guzmán. Her films often explore the persistence of trauma and the recovery of voices excluded from official histories. The visit includes a session for the Raúl Ruiz Chair, moderated by filmmaker Camila José Donoso.
