Susanne Kellermann launches Fritz Wepper Sepsis Foundation

Two years after German actor Fritz Wepper died in March 2024, his widow Susanne Kellermann announced the creation of the Fritz Wepper Stiftung. The foundation, established in July 2026, is dedicated to supporting sepsis victims, improving public understanding of the condition, and promoting early detection and rapid treatment.

Kellermann said the idea arose during a sepsis‑focused event in the Bavarian Landtag in mid‑July, where she and health‑policy officials discussed the need for a dedicated organisation. The foundation will provide clear information, encourage timely recognition of sepsis symptoms, and ensure optimal after‑care. It also aims to embed the question “Could this be sepsis?” into everyday awareness, likening its public profile to that of heart attacks and strokes.
