Susep proposes new rules for storing audit documentation

The Superintendência de Seguros Privados (Susep) has launched a public consultation regarding a proposal to mandate that supervised companies retain documentation supporting independent audit work.

The proposal, released via Public Consultation Notice No. 11/2026, seeks to amend Circular Susep No. 605/2020. While current rules require independent auditors to keep work papers, there is currently no equivalent obligation for the supervised companies themselves to archive the documentation that forms the basis of those audits.

Under the proposed changes, companies would be required to maintain a digital archive of all documentation exchanged between the supervised entity and the auditor. This would ensure that Susep regulators can access the supporting materials during inspections when necessary.
