Suseso launches VigIA platform to oversee medical licenses

The Superintendencia de Seguridad Social (Suseso) has launched VigIA, a new platform designed to oversee medical licenses in Chile. Developed in collaboration with the University of Chile’s Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM), the tool utilizes deterministic rules, threshold analysis, and machine learning to identify risk patterns and atypical behaviors in the issuance of medical licenses.

Led by academic Richard Weber from the Department of Industrial Engineering, the project was the result of 19 months of collaborative work. The platform aims to provide early detection of irregularities to ensure state resources are used appropriately. During 2026, the implementation of VigIA has already led to the initiation of more than 200 investigations into potential irregularities.
