Healthcare developments reported in India

Several healthcare and regional developments have been reported in India. In Bhubaneswar, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has launched a new, free palliative care OPD for advanced cancer patients at its multispecialty hospital. This initiative, in collaboration with Karunashraya, aims to provide symptom management and support to patients and their families at no cost.

At the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, a multidisciplinary team successfully performed a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) on a 71-year-old woman suffering from severe heart failure. This minimally invasive procedure serves as an alternative for patients unable to undergo traditional open-heart surgery.

In a separate medical warning, reports highlighted the risks of consuming raw milk, noting a case where a 33-year-old man suffered a Brucellosis infection that led toward heart failure. Health experts emphasize the importance of pasteurization to eliminate harmful bacteria like Brucella, E. coli, and Salmonella.

Additionally, in Bhanjanagar, authorities held a review meeting to enhance tourism infrastructure. Plans include forming a sub-divisional tourism development committee and improving facilities such as boating, restaurants, and sanitation to boost local tourism and employment.
