Susi Schimmer maintains Oktoberfest carriage tradition in Munich

Susi Schimmer, owner of Kutscherei Holzmann, has been driving hosts to the Munich Oktoberfest for decades. As the only carriage company in Munich with exclusive rights to traverse the Englischer Garten and the pedestrian zone, the business plays a traditional role in the festival's festivities.

Founded in 1945 by Thea Pfeffer, the company originally provided essential services such as transporting food for the Red Cross. Schimmer, who has been driving since the age of 18, manages a fleet of 15 carriages and six horses. The business continues to operate as a family legacy, maintaining historical equipment and traditional practices.
