Suspect Arrested for Murder and Sexual Assault of 6‑Year‑Old Girl in North Sumatra

Police in Tapanuli Selatan, North Sumatra, arrested a 37‑year‑old man identified as MH on suspicion of raping and killing a six‑year‑old girl, identified only as MN. The child's body was discovered on 2 August 2026 inside a privately owned well in Angkola Muara Tais. An autopsy at RSUD Sipirok revealed multiple injuries, including bruises to the neck, genital tearing, and signs of asphyxiation.

According to Kombes Ferry Walintukan of the North Sumatra Police Public Relations Division, MH confessed to the crimes after being detained on 6 August 2026. Investigators say the assault occurred in a nearby hut on 1 August, after which the victim was moved, hidden, and later placed in the well. The suspect is now in police custody pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
