São Paulo mother and ex‑partner found dead after child's kidnapping attempt
On 16 June, security cameras recorded a man trying to force a 10‑year‑old boy into a taxi in Guaianases, São Paulo. A passer‑by intervened and the child escaped. Police later recovered two bodies in the Colônia neighbourhood of the city’s east side. The victims were identified as the boy’s mother, Carolyn, and her former partner, Hamilton, who police say planned the abduction. Both showed signs of blunt‑force injuries and possible asphyxiation. The investigation is examining whether the killings were linked to a criminal “tribunal do crime” that metes out extrajudicial punishments. A third suspect, Lucas, was arrested and is being held for the attempted kidnapping.
