Suspect dead after shooting two Colorado State Patrol troopers

A suspect is dead following a series of shootings involving law enforcement officers in Teller County, Colorado. The incident began around 7 a.m. on Highway 24 near Woodland Park, when two Colorado State Patrol troopers were shot during a traffic stop. Both troopers were wounded but managed to drive themselves to a hospital for treatment; officials stated they are expected to be okay.

Following the initial attack, authorities launched a search for the suspect, described as a white male driving a blue Subaru Impreza. A homeowner provided a tip regarding the suspect's location, leading Teller County deputies to a property where the suspect was located. During a confrontation with a deputy, the suspect was shot and subsequently died after being airlifted to a hospital.

State Patrol Chief Matthew Packard and Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell both credited rapid law enforcement response and community assistance for resolving the situation. Mikesell noted that the suspect had actively attempted to murder three different officers in three separate engagements within a short distance.
