Suspect detained for killing of 14‑year‑old in Colonia Santa Rosa, Argentina

A 14‑year‑old boy was fatally stabbed during an attempted robbery of his cellphone in the early hours of May 23 in the Loteo Sol area of Colonia Santa Rosa, Salta Province. The victim and his girlfriend were leaving a shop when a man approached, a struggle ensued, and the teen was pierced in the left chest, causing fatal internal injuries. He was taken first to a local clinic and then transferred to the hospital in Orán, where he died before arrival.

Authorities from the GAP prosecutor’s office, local police and forensic teams identified a 21‑year‑old male suspect through CCTV footage and witness statements. He was formally charged with homicide during robbery under article 165 of the Argentine Penal Code and ordered to remain in pre‑trial detention. The investigation continues as officials gather additional testimony.

The murder follows a recent spate of violence in the community, including a stabbing death on May 17, heightening local concern over safety in Colonia Santa Rosa.
