Suspect detained in Torres Novas kidnapping and assault case

Authorities in Portugal have detained a primary suspect in connection with the kidnapping, robbery, and sexual assault of a 49-year-old bread distributor in Torres Novas.

The victim was attacked near a retail park and allegedly forced at gunpoint into a service van. The suspect drove her toward the Lisbon metropolitan area, where the assault occurred, before abandoning her in Alcoitão, Cascais. The victim sustained injuries and was treated at the Cascais Hospital.

Following an investigation by the Polícia Judiciária, two suspects were intercepted in Entroncamento by the PSP. One individual has been detained and is expected to face judicial interrogation. The victim's service vehicle was recovered during the operation, which involved assistance from the GNR.
