Suspect in Casalotti massacre reportedly flees Italy for Serbia

Investigators have reconstructed the escape of Shahadat Hossain, the suspect in the Casalotti massacre that occurred in Rome on June 26. Hossain, a 43-year-old Bangladeshi national, reportedly fled Italy using money stolen from the victims.

According to investigative findings, the suspect traveled by bus and train from Rome to Northern Italy, eventually crossing the border into Serbia. He is believed to have spent several nights hiding in Rome before departing from the Tiburtina station.

The massacre resulted in the deaths of Momotaj Hosne Jahan, 38, her daughter Islam Arowa, 8, and Kamal Uddin, 40. The eldest son, Mir Hossain Ayan, 20, was the sole survivor of the attack.

The suspect's ability to leave the country has raised questions regarding the effectiveness of border controls and the timing of official alerts. Authorities are examining whether operational delays or gaps in international cooperation allowed the suspect to evade interception at stations and airports.
