Paraná police find bodies of missing cousins; primary suspect killed
The bodies of 18-year-old cousins Letycia Garcia Mendes and Sttela Dalva Melegari Almeida, who had been missing since April, were discovered in a wooded area of Paraíso do Norte, Paraná. The discovery follows a four-month investigation by the Polícia Civil do Paraná into their disappearance from Cianorte.
During the operation, police located two suspects. One accomplice, aged 29, was arrested in Umuarama and reportedly provided information that led authorities to the location of the remains. The primary suspect, 39-year-old Clayton Antonio da Silva Cruz, also known as 'Dog Dog', was located in Mandaguari. During the attempt to apprehend him, Cruz allegedly took a family hostage before a shootout occurred, resulting in his death.
Investigators have reclassified the case as a double homicide. Evidence seized during the operation included a firearm, ballistic vests, explosives, and jewelry. The investigation continues to clarify the exact circumstances of the deaths.
