Suspect Treveonsay Burge Captured in NC for 2025 Rome, GA Murder

Treveonsay Burge, a 23‑year‑old wanted for the October 21, 2025 fatal shooting of 18‑year‑old Adam Taylor Hernandez in Rome, Georgia, was arrested in Cleveland County, North Carolina. He is being held without bond at the Cleveland County Detention Center.

Burge faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges in Georgia, plus North Carolina charges that include possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking heroin, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and resisting a public officer. The capture resulted from a coordinated effort by the Rome Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Shelby (NC) Police Department. Extradition proceedings to return him to Georgia are pending.
