Suspect used ChatGPT to defraud student in Islamabad suicide case
Police investigations into the suicide of student Laiba Ijaz in Islamabad have revealed that the primary suspect, Noman, used ChatGPT to facilitate his deception. According to police sources, Noman impersonated a girl named Aiza and her brother to trick Laiba into believing he could assist with a US visa application. He used AI-generated text to maintain the persona and provided forged documents to sustain the ruse.
Laiba had reportedly sold a plot of land for 2.1 million rupees and provided jewelry to the suspect, but Noman eventually cut off contact after the fraud was suspected. Investigators believe Noman may have defrauded multiple women, though he attempted to delete mobile phone data before his arrest.
Further developments show that Noman is a habitual fraudster. A separate case has emerged from Mansehra, where he is wanted for allegedly defrauding a family of 8.5 million rupees by promising government jobs to six children using fake appointment letters. The victim's family in Mansehra has contacted Islamabad police to assist in the ongoing legal proceedings against him.
