Suspects confess to killing two Basij members in Mashhad
Two suspects have confessed to the fatal shooting of two young Basij members in Mashhad. The incident occurred on July 8, when the victims, who were on motorcycle patrol to assist with city security, were targeted by two men on a motorcycle. The assailants fired multiple shots at the victims from behind.
During technical interrogations in Mashhad, the primary shooter, a 45-year-old man identified as Farshad-B, revealed that the motive for his presence in the area was a financial dispute involving an engineer for a 220-bed hospital project in Bojnord. The suspects had reportedly used military clothing to intimidate the engineer. The shooter claimed they opened fire on the Basij members to evade arrest after being suspected by the patrol.
Furthermore, the suspects admitted to the killing of an elderly woman in South Khorasan province. Following a two-week investigation, the suspects were identified and apprehended during a coordinated operation in Tehran.
