Susquehanna River set for 2026 Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series

The 2026 Newport Bassmaster Kayak Series is scheduled for Aug. 1‑2 on Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna River near Bloomsburg. The event is part of the Bassmaster tournament circuit, with Newport as title sponsor, Native Watercraft as presenting sponsor, and Pro‑Guide Batteries sponsoring the Angler‑of‑the‑Year points.

The top five finishers will qualify for the series championship at Lake Murray in October. Anglers will compete for large smallmouth bass, requiring careful reading of water levels and current flow. The river’s low August water can change rapidly with rain, and vegetation such as eelgrass adds to the challenge.

Last year’s summer event was won by Ewing Minor with a two‑day total of 187.75 inches; the top 16 averaged more than 90 inches per day. The Columbia Montour Visitors Bureau is hosting the competition.
