Susques hosts Wilderness First Responder certification for tourism providers

Tourism providers and guides from 16 different localities received Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications during a closing ceremony in Susques. This second edition of the training program this year aimed to expand access to specialized safety training within the Puna region.

The WFR certification is an international program consisting of 90 hours of theoretical and practical training. It covers first aid, risk assessment, and emergency management in remote areas far from medical assistance centers.

Federico Posadas, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, attended the event and noted that demand for the course exceeded expectations, requiring two separate sessions to accommodate interest. He emphasized that professional training is essential for the growth of nature tourism and ensuring visitors perceive the destination as a safe environment.
