Sussex defeat Essex by 47 runs in County Championship
Sussex secured a 47-run victory over Essex at Chelmsford, a result that moves them clear of relegation concerns in Division One of the Rothesay County Championship. Sussex concluded the match by taking the final three Essex wickets in 21 overs.
Essex all-rounder Matt Critchley provided significant resistance, scoring 96 runs from 132 balls during a three-and-a-half-hour stay at the crease. Critchley was eventually dismissed by James Coles, caught at slip. Earlier in the innings, Shane Snater contributed a 45-ball cameo that included two sixes, helping to form a 48-run partnership for the ninth wicket, but it was insufficient to secure the win.
