Sustainability initiatives focus on education and climate adaptation in Germany
Various German academic and environmental initiatives are focusing on sustainability and climate change adaptation through education and research.
At the HFU Campus Tuttlingen, students participated in a project day covering topics such as plastic recycling, hydrogen technology, and energy storage systems. Experiments included water-cooled photovoltaics utilizing Stirling engine waste heat.
The Deutsche Forum Kulturlandschaft 2026 is scheduled for August 20-21 in Cottbus. Hosted by the Branitzer Baumuniversität, the event will bring together experts to discuss climate change and its impact on cultural landscapes, including historical parks and rural areas.
Additionally, the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) has launched the TERRA project (Transdisciplinary Education for Responsible Action). Supported by nearly 3.5 million euros from the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre, the project aims to teach sustainability through transdisciplinary collaboration between students, science, business, and politics.
