Sustainability initiatives promote repair workshops in Belgium and Germany

Community initiatives in Belgium and Germany are promoting sustainability through repair-focused workshops and events designed to reduce waste and extend the lifespan of consumer goods.

In Belgium, IDELUX Environnement and Repair Together are launching a series of free sewing workshops across the IDELUX zone. Following a successful spring session, new dates are scheduled from late August through November in locations including Bastogne, Érezée, Bütgenbach, and Malmedy. These sessions aim to teach citizens basic garment repair techniques to help save money and minimize textile waste.

In Germany, the Repair-Café on Tour is hosting an event at the Umweltladen in Wiesbaden. On August 22, experienced volunteers will assist in repairing broken electronic devices and children's toys. The initiative seeks to combat a throwaway culture by providing an alternative to replacement, helping to conserve resources and offering financial relief for those with lower incomes.
