Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Cluster appoints 14-member science panel

The Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Cluster (SAIC) has appointed 14 experts to its first science panel and launched its initial funding call. The panel, composed of specialists from academia and industry with experience in the UK, Norway, Chile, and Australia, will provide independent scientific advice to the SAIC board and guide research and innovation activities.

Members will serve for up to two years, evaluating the scientific merit and potential impact of project applications. Pieter van West from the University of Aberdeen will chair the group, with Dr. Tim Bean of the Roslin Institute serving as vice-chair. The panel includes specialists in environmental assessment, seaweed, fish health, shellfish health, and veterinary science to ensure robust sustainability measurements and expertise across various aquaculture sectors.
