Sustainable Bus Awards 2027 winners announced

The Sustainable Bus Awards 2027 have announced their winners, recognizing diverse approaches to sustainable transit. The awards, presented at FIAA 2026 in Madrid, highlight hydrogen, electric, and plug-in hybrid technologies.

In the Urban category, the Solaris Urbino 18 Hydrogen New Generation won for its integration of fuel cell technology into a high-capacity articulated bus. The jury praised the vehicle for balancing electric propulsion, operational range, and rapid refueling times while maintaining high passenger capacity through efficient battery weight management. This marks the third consecutive year a Solaris zero-emission vehicle has received the award.

Other winners include the BYD B12 HF in the Intercity category and the Irizar i6S Efficient Scania PHEV in the Coach category. The winners were selected by an international jury of specialized journalists from ten European countries based on technical documentation, in-depth presentations, and comparative analysis.
