Sustainable construction and air quality management highlighted in Turkey

The Sustainable Construction Talks platform, hosted by Saint-Gobain, held its first meeting in Turkey in Istanbul. The event brought together industry stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and policymakers, to discuss the dual challenges of earthquake resilience and the climate crisis. Murat Savcı, CEO of Saint-Gobain Turkey and President of IMSAD, emphasized that in a country prone to earthquakes, creating safe and durable structures is an unavoidable necessity rather than a choice.

In a related context regarding residential maintenance, experts highlighted the importance of managing indoor air quality and humidity, particularly during winter months. Melek Ataker, General Manager of HUTT Turkey Air Purification Systems, noted that condensation, moisture, and mold pose risks to both living comfort and long-term building integrity. Addressing these issues requires identifying the source of moisture and ensuring proper ventilation, as air purification devices alone may not resolve humidity imbalances.
