Sustainable finance and renewable energy initiatives expand globally and in Japan

Global and Japanese institutions are advancing frameworks for sustainable finance and renewable energy adoption. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition reported that integrating climate and air pollution measures could yield an economic benefit of approximately $15 for every $1 invested.

In Japan, Mizuho Bank, Mitsui & Co., JA Mitsui Lease, and West Holdings have formed a partnership with e-dash to accelerate renewable energy implementation for small and medium-sized enterprises. This collaboration aims to provide one-stop support for corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and electricity data visualization.

Additionally, the UNEP Finance Initiative and the Principles for Responsible Banking have released guidance on nature finance through a circular economy lens. This framework encourages banks to manage nature-related risks and contribute to biodiversity goals by addressing the environmental impacts of resource extraction and processing.
