Sustainable Housing Projects Launch in Haarlem and Grootegast, NL

Construction began on a new 52‑unit social rental building on the Europaweg in Haarlem. The gas‑free, five‑storey low rise plus a ten‑storey tower will feature a green roof and is expected to be completed by September 2027. The project is a joint effort of developer Thunninger, Pré Wonen, the municipality of Haarlem and Spaarne Gasthuis.

In Grootegast, the Het Hooge Heem care centre reached the highest point of its north‑wing expansion on 15 July. The new wing will raise capacity from 100 to 160 resident places and includes compact, comfortable care studios built using traditional, non‑prefab methods. The development also plans future rental housing and a green park serving both residents and the village.
