Sustainable innovations advance in packaging and labeling sectors
The packaging and labeling industry is seeing significant advancements in sustainable technologies aimed at reducing waste and carbon emissions.
Actega has introduced several eco-friendly solutions, including the ACTSmart Infusion Film Ink System, a water-based solution for shrink-sleeve and surface printing that operates at speeds exceeding 210 meters per minute without traditional catalysts. Additionally, in collaboration with HP, Actega developed the ACTDigi LEP Primer for HP Indigo digital printing presses, designed to improve color adhesion on various substrates while meeting regulatory standards. Other innovations include SafeShield UV-LED inks for low-migration applications in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical sectors, and Ecoleaf technology for resource-efficient on-demand metallization.
In the logistics sector, Cab Produkttechnik is promoting linerless printing and labeling systems through its Hermes QL series. These systems allow for the printing of logistics labels without carrier material, effectively eliminating backing waste. This technology not only reduces material consumption and CO2 emissions but also increases production efficiency by allowing more labels per roll and reducing the frequency of roll changes.
