Sustainable livestock management initiatives expand in Argentina and Bolivia

In Argentina, the province of Santiago del Estero has officially presented the Manual of Indicators for Monitoring Integrated Forest-Livestock Management (MBGI) plans. This technical tool aims to standardize field evaluations and ensure the correct execution of management plans to balance livestock production with the conservation of the local forest ecosystem.

In Bolivia, efforts are increasing to consolidate sustainable livestock practices, particularly in the Chaco and Beni regions. Organizations such as the Coordinadora Ganadera del Chaco and the Alianza por la Ecocultura Sostenible de la Ganadería del Beni are fostering dialogue to improve system efficiency and climate resilience. Experts note that while awareness of sustainability is growing within the sector, access to financing remains a critical requirement for producers to invest in the necessary infrastructure and management transitions.
