Sustainable tourism observatories to hold first conference in Peniche

The first conference of the seven regional sustainable tourism observatories is scheduled for October 14 in Peniche, Portugal. Promoted by the Destination Watch initiative and Turismo de Portugal, the event aims to improve the monitoring of the sector and develop strategies to address environmental, social, and economic challenges through data-driven insights.

The conference will feature international experts, including representatives from ONU Turismo (the global network of observatories INSTO) and the OECD. Discussions will focus on converting tourism impact data into sustainable territorial strategies, the role of tourism intelligence networks, and the integration of digital tools such as the ORVE platform and A2Z solutions for managing pedestrian and cycling flows.
