Suvarnabhumi Airport announces seven-month road maintenance

Suvarnabhumi Airport has announced a seven-month road maintenance project that will cause traffic disruptions on the elevated access roads serving the passenger terminal. The work, scheduled from August 31, 2026, to April 7, 2027, involves repairing and maintaining expansion joints on the roadway connecting the airport to Motorway No. 7 (the Bangkok–Chon Buri Motorway).

During the construction period, three traffic lanes will be closed in stages within active work zones, while two lanes will remain open to divert traffic. Airport authorities warned that these closures may lead to congestion and delays, particularly during peak travel times. The maintenance is intended to enhance safety standards and ensure the long-term structural integrity of the airport’s road infrastructure.

To minimize disruptions, the work will be carried out in phases, with construction areas rotating according to the repair schedule. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time to avoid missing flights. Authorities have recommended using the Airport Rail Link as an alternative to road travel. Traffic management personnel and warning signs will be deployed throughout the work zones to assist motorists.
