Suvarnabhumi Airport investigates 600,000-baht baggage theft

Suvarnabhumi Airport has launched an investigation into a report of missing belongings valued at approximately 600,000 baht. The incident occurred following a domestic flight from Bangkok to Krabi on August 21 via Thai VietJet flight VZ342.

The passenger reported that their checked suitcase appeared to have been opened and damaged upon arrival, with high-value items missing. Airport officials have reviewed CCTV footage and system records tracking the suitcase through the baggage-handling system. According to airport statements, no irregularities were found while the bag was under the airport's direct responsibility. The suitcase had passed through the Explosives Detection System (EDS) with a “CLEAR” status, meaning it did not undergo a manual security inspection.

Following the automated screening, the bag was sent to the sorting area where Pattaya Aviation Company Limited handled the loading process on behalf of Thai VietJet. The airport is currently coordinating with the airline, the ground-handling provider, and other relevant agencies to establish the facts of the incident. Thai VietJet has contacted the passenger and stated they will continue to assist with the investigation.
