West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced a 1,200 crore rupee allocation for the Ghatal Master Plan to address flood management and regional development. The funding will be shared equally between the central and state governments, with additional support from disaster management funds. As part of the initiative, the Chief Minister has ordered the creation of lists for residents living in temporary shelters to provide 180,000 rupees each for transitioning to permanent housing. He also directed officials to document crop damage for farmer compensation.
During his visit to Birsingha, Adhikari highlighted infrastructure plans to transform the village into a major attraction and noted that Reliance is planning significant investments in the state to boost employment.
In a separate political engagement in Murshidabad, the Chief Minister campaigned for the Rejinagar assembly by-election.
